For example, if you love the iPod and would like to feature it on your website so that other people can get one, they will Amazon will provide you with a small piece of html code that you can paste anywhere on your site, and a picture of the item will show up in the place you selected on your site, with a "buy now" button. If people click on the button, it will take them directly to a secure server where they can purchase the item. The transactions all take place with Amazon's reliable merchant service.
They take care of collecting the payment and shipping out the item, and they pay you a percentage, just for posting a little piece of html code on your site that helped them make a sale. Just click the link below, go to the bottome of the page that opens, and click the join associates link.
The greatest thing about it is that it's not selling. If someone isn't already interested in an iPod, they probably wont click the link anyway, so all you are really doing is opening the door for them, that they are going to open for their self at some point anyway.
Getting paid is easy as well. When you sign up for any of these programs they let you know how frequently they pay out commissions. You can either have them directly deposited to your checking account, pay pal account, or go traditional and just have them mail you a check. It's a simple easy process and it usually takes no more than 5 or 10 minutes of your time to sign up for an affiliate program.
So pick whatever program or programs are best to fulfill your needs and the needs of your websites visitors, sign up, be creative, and have some fun with it.
